HMT LEAD TEST KIT
Number 82 on the "periodic table" of elements
Preparation of Test Solutions
- Remove the vials from the large test tube
- Add 10 ml of the solution to be tested into the large test
- The solution is now ready for testing of Lead ions
Conducting the test
- Add the content of the vial with the red cap (reagent 1) into the large test tube containing the solution to be tested
- Close the large test tube with the cap and turn it up and down without shaking it. This is to allow the solutions to mix
- Add all the contents of the vial with the yellow cap (reagent 3) into the vial with the clear cap (reagent 2). Close the cap
of the vial with the clear cap and mix both reagents together
- Add the mixed reagents in the vial with the clear cap to the mixed solutions in the large test tube
- Wait for 5 minutes and compare the colour of the solution to the colour strip to determine the concentration of lead ions
Note: If the concentration of Lead is above 2.0 ppm, a re-test is suggested by diluting the sample solution. Use distilled water to
dilute the sample
Interference: Interference with the resultant colour of the solution can occur if there is Manganese presence above 0.1 ppm and Iron and
Chromium above 10 ppm
Colour strip
The numbers indicate concentration in ppm.
